Mike Mercado

As the leader of Smith’s IT department, Mike oversees the security, infrastructure, and application engineering for Smith’s technology systems. With relentless innovation and vigilance, he remains focused on providing Smith’s employees and customers with the best possible support and resources for their success.

“Smith’s proprietary systems are foundational for many of our unique supply chain solutions,” said Mike. “Through ongoing collaboration and a forward-thinking outlook, we can continue to bring strategic value to our global customers.”

Mike joined Smith as a Senior Systems Administrator in 2012 and was named Director of Infrastructure and Information Security in 2021. He was promoted to Chief Information Security Officer in February 2024 before taking on his current position in 2025.

Throughout his tenure, Mike has helped to develop Smith’s security measures and keep cybersecurity at the forefront of Smith’s business initiatives and processes. His broad expertise and systemic approach ensure Smith sets the standard for quality and security, both in components and technological infrastructure.

“Cyberthreats and attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, which requires companies to stay vigilant and continually evaluate and update their security protocols to safeguard their proprietary data,” said Mike. “Cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility, and I continually reinforce this idea through employee training, infrastructure enhancements, and protocol review and revision.”
