Mike Pursley

“You’re only as good as your people,” Mike said. “You must surround yourself with the best. As such, our goal is to create the most efficient global Trading team in the industry.”

Mike recognizes that a strong team is key to both the division’s overarching goals and its immediate initiatives, which include ensuring appropriate risk tolerance and upholding Smith’s best practices for responsible procurement.

“Smith has continued to grow, innovate, and provide best-in-class service to our global customers through the often-unpredictable shifts of the semiconductor market,” said Mike. “As co-leader of Smith’s Trading department, I am working to build more efficiencies into our processes to drive our long-term success.”

Mike joined Smith in 1992 after earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Texas A&M University, a school he still holds dear. Starting as a sales representative for our Express Components division, he became a fixture for years in the industry’s broker landscape. Mike later took on a support role for Smith’s Purchasing department and was named Vice President of Global Purchasing in 2019. He was promoted to Chief Revenue Officer in 2023 before being named to his current position in 2025.

Outside of the office, Mike and his family can be found cheering on the Aggies football team year after year, but his love of sports doesn’t end there. Mike is also an avid golfer and enjoys the competition of playing against his three sons.
