Cleat is focused on making Smith better by fostering strategic business growth, high-level customer relationships, and a strong culture.

Cleat joined Smith’s Houston Operations team in 2000 and quickly moved to Hong Kong as the location’s Operations Manager, where he spent eighteen years developing and managing operational processes across our APAC region. He relocated to Amsterdam in 2018 and was named Vice President of Business Development, EU. Cleat also served as Smith’s Vice President, EMEA and President, EMEA before returning to Houston to take on his current role in 2025.
As Smith’s President of Global Trading, Cleat helps guide the company’s global business strategy and builds strong partnerships across the semiconductor industry. His experience working across multiple departments and regions has given him a unique outlook and a deep understanding of every aspect of the business.
“Over the 25-plus years I’ve been with Smith, we’ve become a key solution provider for our customers‘ complex supply chains,” said Cleat. “I’ve been privileged to contribute to Smith’s growth, and I aim to deepen our integration and expand our role for our customers.”
Outside of Smith, Cleat enjoys staying active outdoors, often going for jogs to clear his mind and catch some fresh air.
