Smith is committed to protecting the environment through our procedures and practices, and we have adopted an environmental policy to identify materials that meet international environmental standards. But, as with everything at Smith, we aren’t content to just meet expectations. We strive to exceed industry and regulatory requirements when it comes to our commitment to sustainability.
Smith has approximately 134kW-AC installed on our Houston headquarters’ roof.
Our bifacial modules produce sustainable, efficient, and low-cost energy, while also providing ample shade for our electric-vehicle charging stations.
Smith’s six EV stations allow employees and guests to sustainably recharge their vehicles while onsite.
Our solar thermal water heating system helps to reduce our total energy consumption.
Smith’s LED interior lighting is motion activated to help ensure we are conserving power whenever possible.
Smith is globally certified to ISO 14001:2015. This certification provides a framework for Smith’s environmental management systems and recognizes our commitment to following industry best practices for sustainability. Smith’s Houston headquarters are R2-certified. R2 establishes guidelines for responsibly managing retired electronic equipment, components, and materials. Additionally, our Amsterdam hub is accredited to WEEELABEX and is recognized as compliant to WEEE.
With billions of products shipped worldwide each year, our packaging is a significant opportunity for Smith to positively impact the environment. Our commitment to using only 100% recycled materials in our packaging gives those materials new life and helps to reduce waste in our landfills, while still maintaining our high standards for ESD compliance and safety.
