Smith’s Blood Drives Helped Save 252 Lives in 2017

Some of us at Smith donate our time or money. Others choose to give back in still another way.

In 2017 alone, Smith saw 65 successful donors and collected 84 transfusable products, from platelets to plasma – enough to save 252 lives! That’s more than double what we gave the previous year. We helped save 108 lives in 2016 with our 32 successful donors and 36 collected products.

“It is amazing how many of our employees donate to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center,” said Jaime Franklin, benefits administrator. “So many lives are being saved! It’s great to be part of an organization that really cares about people – both its employees and the community.”

Smith has continued our tradition of donating blood into 2018. We began our campaign with drives in January at both our headquarters and our Houston warehouse location, with plans to host more drives throughout the year. Here’s to helping save even more lives in 2018!
