The humanitarian crisis erupting from Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine has left the world stunned. The destruction and violence of the war have forced nearly seven million people to leave everything behind and flee their homes for their own safety.
In response to the devastation, people and corporations around the world have banded together to fight for a common cause.
Here at Smith, we believe in making a positive difference in the communities that surround us. As such, Smith joined a long list of responsible international companies that are doing what they can to support those affected by the war and implemented two corporate social responsibility campaigns to provide aid amidst the current crisis.
Our first initiative, Connecting Ukraine, was created to secure electronics for refugees and victims of war. Employees donated their gently used technology to Smith, who then cleaned up the items so that they were ready for use.
In addition to donations, Smith allocated emergency funds for each of our four EMEA offices. With that funding, our purchasing teams were able to secure hundreds of electronics – as well as medical supplies, toiletries, and clothing – for donation.
Smith’s second campaign, Feeding Ukraine, focused on raising money for World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to communities around the world affected by natural disasters and other crises.
Smith set a goal to raise $25,000 for the organization, an ambitious objective that required the help of all 800 employees from around the world. Our generous employees donated $30,400, and Smith contributed an additional $25,000, matching our original goal. With these efforts, Smith and our employees donated a total of $55,400 to feed Ukrainian refugees.
Thank you to all of Smith’s employees for donating your time, money, and electronics. Your efforts have helped feed, clothe, and connect those affected by the war in Ukraine.
