Minji will lead and support the management and business in Smith’s Asian region
Houston, TX (September 28, 2017) – Smith, a global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, today announces the appointment of Minji Hong to the role of Vice President, Asia. In this role, Minji will oversee the management in Smith’s Asian region and develop local customer support.
She steps into this role alongside Kent Pang, previously Smith’s sales director for South Asia. Kent and Minji hold the same title and will collaborate to manage Smith’s efforts in this region, reporting to Smith’s President – APAC, Choon Byun.
Minji joined Smith’s ranks as part of its Korean sales team in 1998, and – in recent years – has led Smith’s Korea office as general manager.
“Minji has served as a mentor to many of the regional managers around her and helped support our expansion in Asia,” said Marc Barnhill, Smith’s Chief Trading Officer.
In her new role, Minji says, “I hope to offer even more valuable guidance to local managers. It’s my goal to help them as they develop new customer service offerings and relationships.”
She has a history of success with Smith to guide her.
“Minji is one of the first members of Smith’s leadership team who began her career locally rather than at headquarters, giving her deep knowledge of the markets around her,” said Choon. “We look forward to seeing how our Asian offices will benefit from her guidance.”
