Yesterday was the opening day of Data Center Austin Conference 2019. Between keynote and breakout session speakers, many technology experts discussed growing trends in the data center industry that will have a large impact on infrastructure. From a high level, big data, 5G, and AI were some of the top topics of discussion. Our team had the opportunity to speak with hundreds of data center professionals from around the globe and across many different sectors.
Here are a few of the top questions we received yesterday:
1. What role does IT asset disposition play in the data center industry?
IT asset disposition (ITAD) is a part of the lifecycle management process of running a data center or server room. During the end-of-life (EOL) phase, when IT equipment needs to be refreshed or updated, secure decommissioning and proper disposal of infrastructure is the next step.
2. What does Intelligent ITADTM mean?
We support our global partners at every step of their process, from beginning to end, including providing options for dynamic IT asset disposition that meet their specific needs. Our Intelligent ITADTM program and resources offer higher returns on investment (ROI) alongside the peace of mind of knowing that retired assets are being dispositioned responsibly.
3. What types of customers do you typically work with?
Smith works with all types of customers, from those running hyperscale data centers to smaller-scale server rooms. Our customers come from a mix of industries, such as edge and cloud computing, medical, and telecommunications.
Our ITAD team is excited for another day of professional development and networking at DCAC 2019. Stay tuned for key highlights on big data, 5G, and AI in the data center industry discussed during day two of the event.
