Kent will oversee and support business and management in Smith’s Asian region
Houston, TX (September 28, 2017) – Smith, a global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, today announces the appointment of Kent Pang to the role of Vice President, Asia. In this role, Kent will lead the managers in Smith’s Asian region and develop support for local customers.
He is taking on this role alongside Minji Hong, who holds the same title and previously served as general manager of Smith’s Korean office. Minji and Kent will work together under Smith’s President – APAC, Choon Byun, to manage Smith’s undertakings in Asia.
Kent has been with Smith since 2000, serving at the company’s Hong Kong and Shanghai locations and working as trading manager of Hong Kong from 2006 to 2011. He was promoted to sales director in 2012.
“In his years at Smith, Kent has offered guidance to several of our Asian offices, and he can take this further in his new role,” said Choon.
Kent has his aim set on bolstering his region’s success. “I plan to build resources for local managers to grow business with their customers and provide unrivaled support,” he said.
His years of experience in this region will aid him in this goal.
“Kent’s new role is part of our leadership team’s evolution to empower and engage our international leaders,” said Marc Barnhill, Smith’s Chief Trading Officer. “We are excited to see how his localized expertise will help our Asian offices grow.”
