Internal strife within Nexperia continues without any resolution. The split between its Dutch headquarters and its Chinese packaging facility has left it bereft of full capacity and short on sales. The two entities did battle in court in February, but with no conclusive outcome. Nexperia’s headquarters continues to keep wafers produced in Europe out of the hands of the Chinese facilities, and the Chinese subsidiary continues to create products under the Nexperia name with wafers not produced by the Nexperia umbrella, making them nonguaranteed by the Dutch business.
The lack of Nexperia discretes originally hit the automotive industry worse than other sectors and Europe worse than other regions. But during the initial spike in shortages, end customers aggressively sought out new alliances with Nexperia competitors and adjusted their supply chains. These adjustments shortened the timeframe of the shortages, and the worst was soon relieved.
During this period, lead times for discretes from most manufacturers extended slightly, but the flurry of buying during the early fourth quarter built enough buffer stock for OEMs to survive until lead times from the newer vendors were reached.
Despite the supply realignments, the number of shortages for Nexperia material is still elevated above those before the interruption began by a factor of four, with discrete transistors and diodes being the main items sought after and mature logic a distant third.

Discrete supply chain realignment has allowed Nexperia inventory to leak into the secondary market as a result of minor regional misallocations and excess inventory from panic overbuying. However, the level of available product is considerably lower than the pre-October timeframe.
We will continue to monitor the situation and share the latest updates as they become available.
