Houston, TX (November 25, 2024) — Smith, a leading global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, today announces the relocation of its sales office in Penang, Malaysia. The new office space is more than 70 percent larger—with two meeting rooms and a larger trading floor—to accommodate the location’s growing workforce.
Since its opening in April 2014, Smith’s Penang office has nearly tripled its total employee count. Located in Straits Quay, the office is perched among various dining and tourist attractions. Employees can enjoy multiple shopping options around the area and are in close proximity to business partners in the region.
Penang, Malaysia’s own Silicon Valley, transports a significant portion of global semiconductor exports and is becoming a chip-design powerhouse for international trade. Because it sits among the world’s top semiconductor exporters, multiple technology corporations and multinational businesses have flooded to the state for production and manufacturing.
“Penang has long stood as a formidable force in electronics manufacturing and has shown to be a key location for technology companies to flourish in recent years,” said Richard Oh, General Manager of Smith’s Penang office. “This new environment will allow our team to benefit from vast sales opportunities with new and existing customers, and we look forward to expanding on the ongoing work and progress we have made over the last decade.”
The new office is located at:
Units 2, 3, & 3A, Floor 13
Block 3J, Jalan Seri Tanjung Pinang
Tanjung Tokong, Penang, MY 10470
